St John Bosco Church, Borivli
COMMUNICANTS CAMP 07-08
6th April 2008 - 9 am to noon
Theme: Just a closer walk with thee
6th March 2008 opened a new chapter in the annals of St John Bosco Church, Borivli. For the first time, a camp was arranged for the First Holy Communicants alongwith their Parents with the basic idea to make the entire family grow in faith.

The concept was picked up from St Vincent Palloti Church, Andheri, and Mr Anil Chavan and Mrs. Jenifer Chavan from that parish consented to conduct the little training programme for our children and parents.

The morning started with some tea and snacks for everyone. Our Parish Priest, Fr. Ronnie, inaugurated the session with a short talk and everyone was eager to embark on this new novel concept. The proceedings started with a little introductory game and after that what followed was history.

There were 44 Communicants, a 100% attendance. They were split into 11 groups of four each and were assigned the first task of the day, The making of a Rosary!

After a few murmers of "Oh My God", "How can we do that", Jenifer and Anil explained the basics and everyone was on the job and within a short time, 44 beautiful rosaries were ready

The Next Task was assigned, The creation of a Wall Hanging. A few cardboard pieces, some strips of ribbon, a tube of fevicol, Crayons and Poster colours and a lot of talent saw some beautiful Wall Hangings ready in a very short time

The look of satisfaction on the faces of the Communicants and their Parents at the end of the session said it all. It was a Grand Success.

Special thanks to Lelith and her group of Cathecists viz. Sarita, Sonia, Arlene, Caroline, Andrea, Delsie, Leslie, Elswick, and Claudina for their active participation in the proceedings. Francis also helped in arranging background music. Also special thanks to Mr Patrick of Royal Decor who helped in procuring all the material required for the exercise. And of course, all praise to Fr Ronnie, Fr Bosco and Fr Allwyn for giving full support to the Cathecist team to try out this new concept.
