23rd Sunday of the Liturgical Year


Monday 8th September is the feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary.

Friday,12th September is the feast of Most Holy Name of Mary.


Next Sunday 14th September, we shall be having the Rite of Initiation for our Catechumens who are preparing for Baptism, during the 5.30 p.m. Mass.


We have already begun accepting Mission Masses. Those of you who like to offer Masses are welcome to do so.


The Children’s Ministry will be organizing a Prayer Meeting and fellowship on Saturday 13th September 2008 from 5.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.


In response to the spate of violence in Orissa, the CBCI has asked to observe 7th September as a day of prayer and fasting. Cardinal Oswald has also encouraged all parishioners and religious houses to arrange a special half hour prayer before the Blessed Sacrament on this Sunday, 7th September 2008 to pray for the courage of the victims and for restoration of peace and harmony. Our half hour adoration will take place immediately after the 5.30 p.m. mass, i.e. 6.30 p.m. It has been agreed by the Parishes in Borivli that as an added sign of solidarity, we shall all wear black arm bands tomorrow / today.


Senior citizens, i.e. those 60 and above, who would like to go to Mount Mary’s for the annual pilgrimage, kindly give your names to the Parish Office. The pilgrimage will be on Monday, 15th September 2008. The last date for registration is 8th September 2008. The Bus will leave from Don Bosco premises at 7.30 a.m.


There will be a training programme for all catechists tomorrow / today after Sunday School. The programme will be from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30. The resource person is from the Diocesan Pastoral Centre. We expect all the Sunday School Catechists to attend this programme.


Joyful Noise and Archdiocesan Family Commission Presents “Glory 2008” the Gospel Music Talent Contest, Individual and group both in vocal and Instrumental. For details, please look up the notice board.


The Bible Diaries for the year 2009 have arrived. Those who have ordered and paid for them kindly collect your copies. We have got an extra supply of Bible Diaries for those who have not booked and want to purchase on the spot.


We have distributed a quiz of St. Paul, last Sunday and many children came and said that most of the answers are given except for the last 15 or 20 questions. This is a quiz with a difference. We expect the children to study only the first 50 questions for which there will be an oral competition, after the 30th of September. The answers to the other questions must be submitted on a sheet of paper.


The Bombay Catholic Sabha has instituted prizes for the children of our parish who have secured the highest marks in Std. X and XII Arts, Science and Commerce. There will be two prizes in each category. Kindly submit your mark sheet and telephone number to Miss Agnes D’costa, latest by 25th September 2008. The prizes will be distributed on 5th Oct. during the 9.30 a.m. Mass.


Parish Priest will be away for the Provincial Council meeting from 9th to 13th September.


The Parish Pastoral Council will meet tomorrow / today after the 8.15 a.m. Mass.


The DBYM will meet tomorrow / today after the 9.30 a.m. Mass.


Thanks to Miss Albina Mathiah and her team from Yogi South “A” zone for cleaning the Church this Saturday.


Next Saturday, the cleaning of the Church will be done by Mrs. Valentine Pinto and her team from Yogi South “B” zone.
