19th Sunday of the Liturgical Year


Tomorrow / today, we are celebrating the feast of St. John Mary Vianney, patron saint of Parish Priests.


Friday, 15th August 2008, we will be celebrating the feast of Assumption of our Blessed Virgin Mary and also the Independence Day of our Mother Land. On this day there will be 2 Masses in the morning at 7.00 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. and one Mass in the evening at 5.30 p.m.


The Marian Night Vigil to pray for peace will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Santa Cruz on 14th August 2008 from 10.30 p.m. to 5.30 a.m. with Mass. The theme is Mary- Mother of the Word Incarnate. The Preachers are Rev Fr. Conrad Saldhana, and Rev. Fr. Allwyn Misquitta. Marian Seva will make Audio-visual presentation.


Our Unit of the Bombay Catholic Sabha is organizing a concert entitled “One India, Great India”, on 15th August, 2008, at Don Bosco School Hall, after the 9.30 a.m. Mass. Events will be staged by school children from the schools around our parish on the theme of “National Integration & Unity in Diversity.” All parishioners are welcome, in fact, the Bombay Catholic Sabha looks forward to a sizable representation from our Parish.


Tuesday, 19th August, there will be a recollection, organized by the Divine Mercy Archdiocesan Committee. The theme of the recollection will be “Living the Message of Divine Mercy”. The recollection will be animated by Fr. Allwyn Misquitta, who is the Spiritual Director of the Divine Mercy Service in the Borivli Deanery. The recollection will be held in our church from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Those interested in attending the recollection, kindly register your names with Mr. Patrick Corda and collect a coupon for tea & snacks which is free of cost.


Tomorrow/ today, during the Sunday School, you will be receiving the quiz questions for the first 10 chapters of the Gospel of St. Mathew. This quiz is compulsory for students of Std. IX, X and XI. You have to submit your answers by the 31st August. However, there will be special prizes for the first 3 from each class who complete the quiz. Submit your papers with your name and class to the parish office. Those of the other classes, who wish to take part in the quiz, may pick up the quiz from the parish office. In this regard, we are very happy that the senior prayer group has already finished half the quiz.


There will be a meeting of all parents of children who are preparing to receive first Holy Communion, on 17th of August, at 9.30 a.m.


We are very happy with the response we received from the students of Std. X, who have begun attending the Sunday School. Last Sunday there were about 25 students in the morning batch and 15 in the evening batch.


Articles for Bosco Beams are welcome. The last date to receive your articles is 15th August, 2008. The theme this time we are trying to focus on Our Lady and the life of St. Paul.


Those who wish to have a copy of the Bible Diary for the year 2009, can give their names and the amount Rs. 90/- to the parish office or to the Salesian cooperators.

A reminder to all those who have not paid their community welfare fund, to do so at the earliest.


Tomorrow / today, the SVP will have a newspaper drive. Kindly cooperate with them in this matter.


The Bible Cell will meet tomorrow / today after the evening Mass in hall No. I


Thanks to Mr. Albert D’souza and his team from Yogi North, “B” zone for cleaning the Church this Saturday.


Next Saturday, the cleaning of the Church will be done by Mrs. Yvonne Menezes and her team from Yogi North ‘C’ zone.
