2nd Sunday of Lent.
Tomorrow / today is the second Sunday of Lent.
The way of the Cross in English will be held on all Fridays in the Lenten Season, after the evening Mass. Way of the Cross in Konkani will be held on every Tuesdays and the Way of the Cross in Marathi will be held on every Thursday at 6.30 p.m. followed by the Holy Eucharist.
Pope Benedict XVI has convoked a Synod of Bishops on the topic “The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church”. Keeping this in mind, Cardinal Oswald Gracias has declared the year 2008 as the “Year of the Word of God” in the Archdiocese of Bombay. The celebration of this special year dedicated to the Word has begun on Ash Wednesday, February 6th, 2008. The Bible Commission, under the leadership of Bishop Bosco Penha, will coordinate the planning of programmes for the year. Cardinal invites all our Archdiocesan Commissions to see how they could integrate this focus on the Word of God in their own programmes this year.
On Tuesday 19th February, there will be a Konkani Lenten Out reach programme from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. The Eucharist will be in English as usual at 7.00 p.m. and will be followed by the Konkani Mission.
The Parish Council Members will be approaching you with an appeal letter for Lenten Mission entitled FESTIVAL OF GRACE that will take place in our premises. We appeal to your generosity for contribution.
I would like to bring to your notice that there are two very interesting programmes organized by the Archdiocese. The first is IMFE (Institute for Ministry of Faith Enrichment) training programme to empower the lay faithful and religious to collaborate responsibly in pastoral ministry like teachers and heads of various associations. This is a one year ( Seven Week ends ) course. The course fee is Rs. 4000/- . The second is THE WORD MINISTRY. It is a two year course conducted on every Sundays from 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and two live in sessions of 4 days. The Course fee is Rs. 600/- per year and Rs. 700/- for the live-ins. If you are interested in attending these courses, the course fee will be borne by the parish on the following 2 conditions.
1. That you inform the Parish Priest as to how you intend animating the parish after completion of the course.
2. You will have to give an undertaking that you will return the entire fee amount if you do not complete the course in the prescribed time frame.
Admissions are open to Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education Course
(ECCE) – a pre primary teachers training course at St. Xavier’s Institute of Education. For further details please see the notice board.
Jr. K.G. Admission Forms for St. Anne’s School will be given on this Sunday 17th February, from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.
The Bombay Catholic Sabha along with Dharavi Beth Bachao Samithi has organized a protest rally on Sunday, February 17 at 9.00 a.m., to show solidarity with the Uttan-Goraikars in their struggle against SEZ. Parishioners are requested to assemble in large numbers either at Marve Jetty (Malad) or at Gorai Creek, Borivli.
Thanks to Miss. Jennifer Gonsalves and her team from Babhai zone for cleaning the Church this Saturday.
Next Saturday, the cleaning of the Church will be done by Mr. Agnelo Dias and his team from Eksar, A, zone.
