Parish Notices 21st September, 2008.

25^th Sunday of the Liturgical Year

Saturday, 27^th September, is the feast of St. Vincent de Paul. During the evening Mass, we shall have the renewal of commitment of the SVP members. And on the following day there will be lunch for all the poor families that the SVP supports.

On Sunday, 28^th September, during the children’s Mass, we shall have the rite of handing over the Lord’s Prayer to those children who are going to receive first Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Next Sunday, 28^th September, during the 9.30 a.m. Mass, the family Cell of our parish has taken the initiative of organizing the Renewal of Marriage Vows. As far as possible, all the married couples are requested to come for this Mass and be seated by the side of your spouse.

The I.C. Parish is conducting a programme on parent - child communication. This programme is beneficial for parents to learn how to communicate with their children. This programme will be held tomorrow / today, 21^st September from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. All are invited for this programme.

The youth prayer group of our parish will be conducting an adoration service, specially for vocations to priesthood and religious life, on the first Thursday of every month, beginning 2^nd October, 2008.

The Hindi Bible Cell, under the spiritual guidance of Fr. Allwyn Misquitta will begin from next Sunday, 28^th September, soon after the evening Mass. The group will meet every 2^nd and 4^th Sunday of the month in one of the class rooms that is available.

Pre-baptismal course for parents to be will be held on 4^th, 5^th, 11^th and 12^th of October 2008. Please, register your name at the parish office.

The Confirmation student’s retreat will be held on 20^th , 21^st and 22^nd of October 2008. The details will be provided later. This retreat is one of the pre-requisites for reception of the Sacrament.

On next Saturday, 27^th September, the Chikoowadi zone will be celebrating their Annual thanksgiving Mass at 7.00 p.m. followed by a get-together.

Next Sunday, 28^th September, Vazira zone will celebrate their annual Thanksgiving Mass at 5.30 p.m. followed by fellowship.

Next Sunday, 28^th September will be the last day of Sunday School for this term.

The steering committee of the SCC will meet on Thursday, 25^th September, after the evening Mass.

New Life Fellowship literature being distributed outside our Church:

1. The trouble in Mangalore & Orissa is because of such literature

2. Bishop of Mangalore has clearly mentioned such groups responsible for all the violence.

3. They are targeting mainly our Catholics. They have their centre opposite Velankanni School, but distribution of literature is done in front of our Church.

4. Kindly deal with them prudently and do not accept any literature.

5. I have asked the Bombay Catholic Sabha to look into the matter and see what can be done, rather than suffer the fate of people in Mangalore and Orissa.

6. Fr. Allwyn and I are trying to meet them but so far we have failed.

Thanks to Miss Jennifer Gonsalves and her team from Babhai zone for cleaning the Church this Saturday.

Next Saturday, the cleaning of the Church will be done by Mr. Peter Pegu and his team from Chickoowadi “A” zone.

Last Sunday’s collection was Rs 18,652/-. God bless you for your generosity.
