21st Sunday of the Liturgical Year
On Wednesday, 27th August 2008, we celebrate the feast of St. Monica.
On Thursday, 28th August 2008, we celebrate the feast of St. Augustine.
On Friday, 29th August 2008, we commemorate the beheading of St. John the Baptist.
On Saturday, 30th August 2008, we begin the Novena in preparation for the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As you leave the Church please collect the handbills that are being distributed, that will give you a detailed idea of the programme for the 9 days. This year being the year of St. Paul, we have chosen as our theme, the Life of St. Paul.
For a better grasp of the life of St. Paul, we have also prepared a detailed quiz on St. Paul, which will be given to the children of Std. IX, X and XI during Sunday School on 31st August 2008. Members of the Prayer Group and others are welcome to participate. Last date is 30th September 2008.
We are very happy with the response we got for the quiz on the 1st ten chapters of the Gospel of St. Matthew. The last day for handing over the quiz on St. Matthew is 30th August 2008.
There will be a training programme for all catechists on Sunday, 7th September 2008, after Sunday School. The programme will be from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30. The resource person is from the Diocesan Pastoral Centre. We shall get a basic idea on how to teach catechism to our children.
Praise Adoni prayer group of St. John Bosco Church is organizing a Youth Prayer Meet on the theme of “Seeking Justice” on Thursday, 28th August 2008 at 7.00 p.m. at Don Bosco. For details look up the Notice Board or pick up a handbill at the reception.
The Diocesan Youth Centre, Bandra, is organizing a “Youth Liturgy Workshop” on Wednesday 3rd September 2008 from 4.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at Salvation Seva Kendra Hall, Dadar. For details please look up the Notice Board.
The Legion of Mary extends a very warm hearted welcome to all those who like to join the Legion. There has been a slight increase in numbers, but they would like more individuals to participate in their prayer life and the social service they render.
Mission Masses:
Too many Masses offered – people disappointed.
Sending your Mass offerings to the Missions as they do not receive any Mass Offerings.
Put the intention and amount in an envelope.
To serve two purposes – Mass is offered by an individual priest and you also help the Missions. Rs.30/-
Thanks to Mrs. Claudina Pinto and her team from Yogi North, “D” zone for cleaning the Church this Saturday.
Next Saturday, the cleaning of the Church will be done by Mr. James Rumao and his team from Vazira “B” zone.
The collection on the 15th of August was Rs.12378/-.
Last Sunday’s collection was Rs.16,285/-. God bless you for your generosity.
