26th Sunday of the Liturgical Year
Monday, 29th September, is the feast of Saints Michael, Raphael and Gabriel.
Thursday, 2nd October, is the feast of Guardian Angel
Every first Thursday of the month, beginning 2nd October, the youth prayer group of our Parish will be conducting an adoration service, specially for vocations to priesthood and religious life.
Friday, 3rd October, is the First Friday of the month. There will be adoration service after the evening Mass.
(Only for Saturday Mass) We would like to congratulate the members of SVP for the renewal of their commitment and hope they carry on with enthusiasm and zeal the good work that they are doing.
Tomorrow / today, during the children’s Mass, we shall have the rite of handing over the Lord’s Prayer to those children who are going to receive first Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Tomorrow / today, during the 9.30 a.m. Mass, the family Cell of our parish has taken the initiative of organizing the Renewal of Marriage Vows. As far as possible, all the married couples are requested to come for this Mass and be seated by the side of your spouse.
Tomorrow / today, the confirmation children will be receiving all the details about their retreat. The form duly filled should be returned on next Sunday, 5th Oct. 2008, to the parish office. This retreat is a must for all children who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Tomorrow / today is the last day of Sunday School for this term. There will be no children’s Mass till further notice.
The Hindi Bible Cell, under the spiritual guidance of Fr. Allwyn Misquitta will begin from tomorrow / today, soon after the evening Mass. The group will meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month in one of the class rooms that is available.
On 2nd October, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, all parishes of Borivli are getting together for a peace march, against violence in general. I would recommend as many as possible to join this silent peace march. There will be no sloganeering. You may carry placards with peace messages. You are requested to assemble at St. Francis High School compound at 9.45 a.m. to start the peace march at 10.00 a.m. The march will end with a peace rally at I.C. ground. The duration of the entire programme will be of 2 hours. This march will also include people of other faith.
Pre-baptismal course for parents to be will be held on 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th of October 2008. Please, register your name at the parish office.
The next training programme for the Permanent Diaconate will begin in January 2009. Those wishing to join should apply, even if they have applied before, to Bishop Bosco Penha by October 31, 2008, together with a letter of recommendation from the Parish priest.
Our Unit of Bombay Catholic Sabha will collect used / new clothes, blankets and utensils from parishioners to be forwarded to Orissa Communal violence / floods victims. Parishioners can bring the materials on 4th and 5th October and hand them over to Volunteers of the Sabha before or after masses.
The Bombay Catholic Sabha, Central Unit, will award Academic Excellence Awards for successful meritorious students of 2007-08 from SSC to Phd. Last date to submit applications is 8.10.2008.
All parishioners are requested to become members of Bombay Catholic Sabha, those eligible and who have not become members – the membership drive will be held from 4th October to 26th October. Volunteers of the Sabha will be available at all masses.
Tomorrow / today, Vazira zone will celebrate their annual Thanksgiving Mass at 5.30 p.m. followed by fellowship.
Thanks to Mr. Peter Pegu and his team from Chikoowadi “A” zone for cleaning the Church this Saturday.
Next Saturday, the cleaning of the Church will be done by Mr. Antonio Cardozo and his team from Chickoowadi “B” zone.
Special thanks to Miss Sylvia D’mello who has been coming to church last week and carefully sticking all the lose pages of the hymn books in the church.
Last Sunday’s collection was Rs 19,463/-. God bless you for your generosity.

We have received a message from Bishop Bosco Penha that Cardinal Oswald is suffering from a rare form of cancer for which treatment is available only in Washington, USA. He has undergone surgery and is responding well to the treatment. Let us pray in a special way for his speedy recovery and return to good health. The communication to this effect from Bp. Bosco Penha is displayed on the notice board.

Centre for Social Action of the Archdiocese of Bombay has requested all parishioners in Mumbai to contribute generously for the victims of severe floods in Orissa. The collections made during this Mass and during the Masses tomorrow will go towards this cause. Those of you who wish to contribute more can send your contributions by cheque, directly in favour of “Centre for Social Action”. Those contributing Rs. 10,000/- and above, kindly mention your PAN number on the reverse side of the cheque. Contributions to this cause are exempted from Income Tax, under section 80G.
